Pollen anyone???

This has been a crazy year in the weather department. A super heavy winter, a spring that continually teased,  and only recently has it proven to be summer more than one day in a row. I’m beginning to wonder how much of the outdoors I’m going to get to enjoy. My husband has always had sever allergies, so I was fine with the thought of doing all the outdoors stuff while he’d be at work. Unfortunately, my daughter is a slave to our jean pool, and now she too has them as bad as her father. I have them too, but the worst is usually over by summer for me. I noticed Charis had problems whenever I did, so I thought that she’d be almost done with hers too.

Yesterday was awful for her. I had to stop by hubby’s work, and everyone asked why my daughter had been crying so much. The pollen was bugging her so much that her eyes were almost welded shut, and a constant supply of tears were dripping from her ducks. I didn’t have the heart to take a picture. The saddest thing is that this all occurred after her allergy medicine!!! I’m hoping the bees give everything in this area a break so my daughter can release her energy outdoors…and maybe mommy can go on a bike ride too!

Update: After writing this I called her pediatrics office, and talked to the nurse. She told me to go ahead and up her dose to a two year old’s dose. She’s now doing much better!!! YEAH!!!

new surprise…

As a little girls birthday approaches we’ve heard what lovely surprises await for my daughter. She still has another month until the big event, and she already got one of her presents early!!! Her Papa is wrapped perfectly around her little pinky finger. So, what’s the new surprise you ask??? A lovely little tikes car, with all the bells and wistles…well maybe not bells, but it does have a cell phone! Yesterday she continally showed her appriciation for it by; watching Curious George in it, playing dress up in it, playing blocks in it, playing baby dolls in it…she even had her lunch in it!!! I’m sure you get the point that she loves this thing!!! It’s currently in the house, and although it is a little large, I like thought of her getting in and out of it herself on nice soft carpet than the hard pavement outside. I guess now’s the time to box away anything that she’s outgrown toy wise, and make room for the big girl toys. I love Grandparents! Now I just need a bigger house to fit everything in!!!

Pics of the trip (finally), and new hair cut!!!

I know it’s been a few weeks since my trip and I still haven’t posted any pics. I’ve been pictured out when it comes to editting, and still have a ton more to do, so I figured that I’d just post them as is, so you’ll have to bear with the occasional red eye thing. I uploaded them to my flicker. I also added some pics of Charis’ new hair cut. She looks so grown up!

Big Girl & Party Time

In a little over a month, my baby is going to be two years old. It seems so crazy to me!!! I so vividly remember being pregnant…and holding my newborn for the first time…and making her homemade baby food! That same little baby I so clearly remember is no longer a baby (and according to her, she hasn’t been one for some time, but she was to me), she’s very much a toddler. A BIG toddler. Since my full day of traveling with her on my tummy I realized my back can’t take wearing her for long periods of time. That is the last big mommy-baby bonding thing that I’m not ready to give up!!! SO for little things here and there I’m good. I’m also going to try to make a different carrier, that might give me a little more time! I know…I addicted to baby wearing!

One up side to Charis growing up is seeing her become her. She’s a very silly girl, who is a perfectionist… which means two is going to be fun!!! The past week or so we’ve been talking about what kind of party she wants. Her first birthday we had a small family gathering. This year, we’re going to have a little party for with a few of her pals, and a family one. She seems to be leaning towards a tea party. Although sometimes she says a zoo party. I might have to have a few animals invited to the party (stuffed ones anyway). She’s also been mentioning tutus, so maybe a ballerina/zoo/tea party=-)!! I’m going to keep things really simple… at least I’m going to try! Here’s hoping…

Big eater…

I am blessed to have a toddler that’s a very good eater. She eats her three full meals, not to mention snacks (all healthy of course=-). The other day she barely ate a thing though. She ate a bit of breakfast (some dry cheerios and raisins, half her usually amount…she didn’t even want to drink her milk!!!) little snacks hear and there, and about half of her dinner…not at all like my daughter. She usually not only finishes her dinner, but obtainingseconds is a very regular thing for her. I hope she’s not catching something. I did get her to drink a smoothie not to mention water. Pray fully she just wasn’t hungry, and her love for food will return today!!!

Going green…

For the past few months I’ve been making a lot of changes in how we live…so of them big and so of them small. I haven’t made these choices to save the world, but to reduce our waste amount and save money. I’ve been teased off and on by my husband about using my homemade cloth grocery bags. He was very surprised when I switched to cloth diapers…I was a little surprised myself. He’s now in full support of these changes. He even uses cloth diaper when he’s watching Charis!!! Sence then I’ve been looking at other ways to continue eliminating waste. I just recently came across these: http://www.wrap-n-mat.com/. How many times do I run to the grocery store to get another box of sandwich bags??? I think they’d definitely be worth trying! There’s currently a giveaway on SIMPLE. Check it out here. http://simple-reviews.blogspot.com/

Is it me??? or her???

Yesterday for me was quite a challenge. Charis’ morning started with a big grin as she waited for me to remove the gate barracading her way to the rest of the house. She, as usual had her blankie, her shirt, and her monkey Mr. Twiddles. In the midst of all the stuff, there wasn’t enough room in her hands to grab the last thing that she wanted…her sippy cup of water. She then commanded Mommy to go get it. She didn’t like that Mommy didn’t respond well to her orders. I did offer to take Mr. Twiddles so she could go get it (I don’t mind helping daughter, but I’m not going to show her that she can order me around either. Oh boy would that be fun with her almost being two!), that then resulted in her falling to the ground and bursting into tears. I then set her beloved monkey on the ground and told her when she was ready to behave like a big girl she could come out into the living with me and we could pray…15 minutes later, she finally stops and comes out with a smile on her face, completely forgetting her desire for a sippy cup in the first place!

Later in the day this behavior continued with tears and endless shouts of no’s, a few pats of the hieney and a lot of time outs. I’ve been giving her a bit more grace than usuall since returning home. I’ve had a lot of catching up on things since coming home, and I know it’s still a bit of a whirlwind, but at the same time it could also be that someone is going to be two. A lot of her “moments” occure when I’m trying to get the laundry folded, or the dishes done, or when I’m cooking. I think she’s been getting board. She hasn’t been playing with her toys as much on her own… maybe she just needs a little sister!Ha-ha. I think having a week of hardley any toys and a lot of Mommy’s attention has something to do with it too! I did do some “school work” with her yesterday and that bought me a little time, but not like it usually does. Buy the time Zak got home last night I was very done with the whining… I’m sure he could tell. I was trying to get through a very late dinner (another thing that frustrated me), and send a little munchkin off to bed. Dinner ended a bit differently than it usually does. I had made a pizza with a garlicky butter base to the crust, she enjoyed her dinner so much that she decided the put the remaining buttery, olive oily pizza on top of her nice clean hair!!! At this point I didn’t know weather to laugh or cry, but I knew I couldn’t send her to bed like that so I hopped the the shower and Zak sent her in to get her hair washed. As soon as she was clean, he dried her off and sent her to bed! All I can say is Zak is such a blessing to me!!! I pray today goes differently, or at least that I handle myself better.

Oh, and I’ll try and post some pics from our trip and blog about it some time this week!
