Well, two years ago today I was blessed to hold my darling daughter for the first time. These past two years have been filled with so much joy, and other emotions too=-P! Thank you Charis for blessing my life…I don’t know what my life (and Daddy’s) would be like without you! Happy Birthday Charis…I pray that this coming year is filled with more joy and lots of Jesus! Mommy and Daddy love you!!!

Ode to Birds July 17, 2008

My daughter was peeking out the window, watching the birds in a nearby tree. She’s been known for making up silly songs, so I told her to sing a song to the birds. Instead she began reciting poetry. Here’s my little poetic toddler’s first composition.

“Oh bird…oh birdie in tree,

Green tree.

Oh bird…fly away bird.”

Maybe this family will have two songwriters in it! Or one songwriter and one poet!

Tea Time!!! July 14, 2008

Filed under: Charis — joannaadams @ 8:38 pm

Life’s been quite busy lately with photoshoots, vactions, family in town, and ofcourse Charis’ 2nd birthday party. She had a tea party yesterday with a few of her buddies! It was so fun. Tutu’s and tea cups filled the house, along with smiley, giggely girls! I had a few activities planned if the girls got bored, and thankfully didn’t need to touch them. They just had a ball sippy tea (white grape juice) and playing with each other! One of her freinds even commented on how my house was a fun place. I thought that was pretty cute.

Charis has been telling me about all the fun things for her party! She was blessed to receive some lovely gifts too! She got a dress up Curious George puzzle, a tea party game, and a pair of omish dolls made by a talented mommy of two of Charis’ pals. She’s decided to name them Daddy Abraham and Mommy Abigail. She giggles so much when she plays with them.

While preparing for the big event (baking, cleaning, and all the what have yous) I stopped wondering why people fork out a ton of money to do a party somewhere else, and buy a cake! Would I do that…probably not! I’m way too practical, and now that I’ve got my first cake from scratch under my belt, I don’t feel nearly so intimidated! Thanks for the recipe Jaime=-)! Another thing that prayerfully will be different next year, is our home…it’s not very big, so entertaining isn’t the easiest. It’s not a bad as other homes we’ve lived in, but for a hand full of people (or running  toddlers) it gets tight! What made it all completely worth it was seeing the smile on my daughters face!!! Oh, and hearing her talk about her tea party!!! I love the blessings of mommy-hood!

I posted some pics I took of Charis last week. We were at my parents house visiting. She and Grandma Jana went upstairs to get some toys, and she came down in the flower girl dress that my niece wore in my wedding! She looks adorable…I’m so thankful I had my little camera on me!!! Check them out here.

Family time July 9, 2008

Filed under: Charis, Zak — joannaadams @ 4:12 pm

For those of you that know us personally, you know my hubby is not a 9-5 kind of a guy. He’s not a work-o-holic either… when you own a business it requires a lot of your time. It’s all we’ve know, so it doesn’t bother me. It just makes our time together all the more special!! This past week however, we were blessed to have five beautiful days together as a family! It was such a blessing.

One thing that’s nice about not vacationing much, is that when you finally have it, you make sure you enjoy every bit of it!!! We took our daughter to the zoo. I think I enjoyed it as much as she did! Charis and I both got to feed giraffs…that was soooo much fun! She’s still talking about her favorite animals. I have a feeling that she’s going to be talking for a while=-)! The Lord blessed us with great weather, and a lovely time together.

I just udlaoded some pics from our trip…you can view them here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26168413@N07/?saved=1

Pollen anyone??? June 18, 2008

Filed under: Charis, Joys of Parenting, Toddler Troubles — joannaadams @ 2:14 pm

This has been a crazy year in the weather department. A super heavy winter, a spring that continually teased,  and only recently has it proven to be summer more than one day in a row. I’m beginning to wonder how much of the outdoors I’m going to get to enjoy. My husband has always had sever allergies, so I was fine with the thought of doing all the outdoors stuff while he’d be at work. Unfortunately, my daughter is a slave to our jean pool, and now she too has them as bad as her father. I have them too, but the worst is usually over by summer for me. I noticed Charis had problems whenever I did, so I thought that she’d be almost done with hers too.

Yesterday was awful for her. I had to stop by hubby’s work, and everyone asked why my daughter had been crying so much. The pollen was bugging her so much that her eyes were almost welded shut, and a constant supply of tears were dripping from her ducks. I didn’t have the heart to take a picture. The saddest thing is that this all occurred after her allergy medicine!!! I’m hoping the bees give everything in this area a break so my daughter can release her energy outdoors…and maybe mommy can go on a bike ride too!

Update: After writing this I called her pediatrics office, and talked to the nurse. She told me to go ahead and up her dose to a two year old’s dose. She’s now doing much better!!! YEAH!!!

new surprise… June 17, 2008

Filed under: Charis, Joys of Parenting, amusing — joannaadams @ 3:05 pm

As a little girls birthday approaches we’ve heard what lovely surprises await for my daughter. She still has another month until the big event, and she already got one of her presents early!!! Her Papa is wrapped perfectly around her little pinky finger. So, what’s the new surprise you ask??? A lovely little tikes car, with all the bells and wistles…well maybe not bells, but it does have a cell phone! Yesterday she continally showed her appriciation for it by; watching Curious George in it, playing dress up in it, playing blocks in it, playing baby dolls in it…she even had her lunch in it!!! I’m sure you get the point that she loves this thing!!! It’s currently in the house, and although it is a little large, I like thought of her getting in and out of it herself on nice soft carpet than the hard pavement outside. I guess now’s the time to box away anything that she’s outgrown toy wise, and make room for the big girl toys. I love Grandparents! Now I just need a bigger house to fit everything in!!!

Pics of the trip (finally), and new hair cut!!! June 11, 2008

I know it’s been a few weeks since my trip and I still haven’t posted any pics. I’ve been pictured out when it comes to editting, and still have a ton more to do, so I figured that I’d just post them as is, so you’ll have to bear with the occasional red eye thing. I uploaded them to my flicker. I also added some pics of Charis’ new hair cut. She looks so grown up!

Big Girl & Party Time June 5, 2008

Filed under: Charis, Joys of Parenting — joannaadams @ 4:38 pm

In a little over a month, my baby is going to be two years old. It seems so crazy to me!!! I so vividly remember being pregnant…and holding my newborn for the first time…and making her homemade baby food! That same little baby I so clearly remember is no longer a baby (and according to her, she hasn’t been one for some time, but she was to me), she’s very much a toddler. A BIG toddler. Since my full day of traveling with her on my tummy I realized my back can’t take wearing her for long periods of time. That is the last big mommy-baby bonding thing that I’m not ready to give up!!! SO for little things here and there I’m good. I’m also going to try to make a different carrier, that might give me a little more time! I know…I addicted to baby wearing!

One up side to Charis growing up is seeing her become her. She’s a very silly girl, who is a perfectionist… which means two is going to be fun!!! The past week or so we’ve been talking about what kind of party she wants. Her first birthday we had a small family gathering. This year, we’re going to have a little party for with a few of her pals, and a family one. She seems to be leaning towards a tea party. Although sometimes she says a zoo party. I might have to have a few animals invited to the party (stuffed ones anyway). She’s also been mentioning tutus, so maybe a ballerina/zoo/tea party=-)!! I’m going to keep things really simple… at least I’m going to try! Here’s hoping…

Big eater… June 4, 2008

Filed under: Charis, Joys of Parenting — joannaadams @ 1:49 pm

I am blessed to have a toddler that’s a very good eater. She eats her three full meals, not to mention snacks (all healthy of course=-). The other day she barely ate a thing though. She ate a bit of breakfast (some dry cheerios and raisins, half her usually amount…she didn’t even want to drink her milk!!!) little snacks hear and there, and about half of her dinner…not at all like my daughter. She usually not only finishes her dinner, but obtainingseconds is a very regular thing for her. I hope she’s not catching something. I did get her to drink a smoothie not to mention water. Pray fully she just wasn’t hungry, and her love for food will return today!!!
